Spacecraft Embedded Linux Engineer II (C++/Embedded Aerospace): Develop reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules across requirements capture, design, testing, integration, and flight operations with an accent on embedded C++, Linux, RTOS, and safety-critical aerospace systems. Focus on building and validating mission-critical software, solving open-ended spacecraft control problems, and integrating telemetry, telecommand, and real-time embedded interfaces.
Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.
Salary: $144,020–$184,026 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.
What you will do
- Develop reliable flight software controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
- Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
- Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
- Scope projects, capture requirements, and perform initial design trade studies for open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with the team to solve problems and maintain system quality and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
- 3+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
- Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
- Experience with real-time embedded systems and safety-critical software is preferred.
- Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F', or cFS is preferred.
- U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required; visa sponsorship is not indicated.
Nice to have
- End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
- Experience with Python or Rust.
- Knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
- Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, and EtherCAT.
