Summer 2027 Internship - Electrical Engineering (Fusion Energy)

Location: Onsite in San Leandro, Fremont, California, or Los Lunas, New Mexico; full-time for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning between mid-May and mid-June 2027.

Salary: $30–$48 per hour, plus equity and benefits for eligible employees.

What you will do

• Own an electrical engineering project through planning, design, assembly, testing, and operation.
• Design, build, wire, debug, and test real hardware and experimental systems.
• Apply circuit analysis, power systems, signals, controls, or embedded systems knowledge to fusion-system development.
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, system documentation, build instructions, procedures, and test plans.
• Design and operate test setups while collecting and analyzing measurements and performance data.

Requirements

• Be a junior or senior in a four-year Electrical Engineering or related degree program.
• Have a strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals and first principles.
• Have working knowledge of circuit analysis, power systems, signals, controls, or embedded systems.
• Have experience with schematics, wiring diagrams, and basic system documentation.
• Have exposure to SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar analysis and simulation tools.
• Be able to work full-time onsite for at least 12 consecutive weeks during the May–June 2027 start window and meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements where applicable.

Nice to have

• Hands-on electrical design, hardware building, wiring, debugging, and testing experience.
• Experience with power electronics, motors, sensors, controls, embedded systems, or system architecture.
• Experience writing build instructions, procedures, or test plans and analyzing measurement data.
• Six or more months of internship, co-op, or substantial project experience.
• GPA of 3.5 or higher and experience with CAD for electronics, MATLAB, Python, or Excel.
