What you will do
- Serve as Remote Pilot in Command for developmental flight testing and operational demonstrations.
- Execute flight test cards, monitor aircraft state, airspace, weather, and test objectives, and make go/no-go decisions.
- Lead preflight briefings, postflight debriefings, flight readiness reviews, and structured anomaly reports.
- Maintain SOPs, emergency checklists, crew resource management practices, and operational documentation.
- Support range setup, communications infrastructure, airspace authorizations, COA applications, and test campaign scheduling.
- Review flight data, verify aircraft systems, and collaborate with avionics and propulsion engineers on autonomous and remote-piloted missions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated RPIC experience with UAS or RPAS platforms in operational or test environments.
- FAA Part 107 certification and familiarity with COA processes and experimental aircraft operations.
- FAA Part 61 or Part 141 pilot certification with Private, Commercial, or ATP credentials and multi-engine privileges.
- Strong knowledge of airspace coordination, mission planning, and preflight risk assessment.
- Ability to conduct disciplined, repeatable test operations in dynamic field environments and communicate clearly with engineering and operations teams.
- Ability to work on-site in Alameda.
Nice to have
- RPIC experience with large or complex Group 3–5 UAS platforms.
- Familiarity with telemetry systems, ground control station interfaces, autopilot behavior, and flight test instrumentation.
- Experience supporting field test campaigns, data logging, postflight analysis, or simulation-based mission rehearsal.
- Aerospace, systems, or mechanical engineering background.
