TL;DR
Supplier Development Engineer (Aerospace): Improving supplier systems, manufacturing processes, and product acceptance procedures for aerospace and defense components with an accent on Lean manufacturing, supplier quality, APQP, PPAP, and FMEA. Focus on validating suppliers, leading corrective actions and process improvements, supporting new product introductions, and managing supplier changes and audits.

Location: Elyria, Ohio, United States; onsite manufacturing environment with travel to assigned suppliers up to 50%

What you will do

  • Improve supplier performance through Lean methodologies, scorecards, audits, systematic problem-solving, and process improvement plans.
  • Manage supplier and engineering design changes, capacity studies, new product introductions, and production transfers with sourcing and engineering stakeholders.
  • Define product acceptance and test procedures for complex processes and advanced products.
  • Lead supplier validation audits, investigations, corrective actions, and supplier development projects.
  • Support new product launches and verify that supplier processes meet product and manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership across supplier quality, manufacturing, cost, logistics, delivery, and performance.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or supplier quality engineering.
  • Experience with vendor qualification, supplier development, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, and program management.
  • Experience using Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, quality systems, and manufacturing standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/TS 16949, VDA 6.3, or IPC standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering, with the ability to interpret drawings, prints, and specifications.
  • Access to controlled data may be required; only US persons will be considered for positions subject to ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • In-depth knowledge of printed circuit card assemblies, printed wiring boards, and IPC standards.
  • Substantial supplier development experience and experience working with customers and suppliers.
