Spacecraft Subsystem SME (SATCOM)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California; 100% on-site work required at LAAFB. Remote work is unavailable. Approximately 10% travel within Southern California and the continental United States may be required.

Salary: $150,000–$229,000 annually in California.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and assessment for spacecraft delivery in mechanical, electrical, or test disciplines.
• Lead unit and subsystem design trades, integration, and testing across the spacecraft bus, payload, and space vehicle.
• Ensure technical design integrity and interfaces within the space vehicle and across ground and terminal segments.
• Support component, unit, and space-vehicle test programs, including space-qualification testing.
• Develop test plans, reports, and other technical documentation.
• Build collaborative relationships with government customers, contractors, and FFRDC partners.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance required. Ability to obtain or current possession of a TS/SCI clearance is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, software, computer science, or another technical field.
• 15 years of spacecraft bus or subsystem experience, or a master’s degree with 12 years of experience.
• Proven coordination experience and strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to perform effectively in highly visible and stressful situations.
• Space systems engineering experience at the unit, subsystem, spacecraft, or space-vehicle level is desired.

Nice to have

• TS/SCI clearance.
• Department of Defense or intelligence-community space experience.
