TL;DR
FPGA Design Engineer (Quantum Computing) (SystemVerilog/Xilinx): Developing and validating FPGA-based digital control systems for Apollo quantum computers with an accent on signal coordination, simulation, synthesis, and hardware interfaces. Focus on integrating DACs, ADCs, DDRx memory, digital filtering, control loops, and signal processing in a rapid-prototyping R&D environment.

Location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States; primarily on-site with the possibility of working remotely up to 2 days per week with approval

Salary: $135,000–$181,000 annually

What you will do

  • Architect, prototype, design, and implement FPGA-based control systems for quantum computers.
  • Develop, simulate, synthesize, place, route, and verify FPGA designs for the Apollo quantum computer.
  • Coordinate digital, analog, and RF signals within complex control-loop systems.
  • Develop interfaces for DACs, ADCs, DDRx memory, digital filtering, signal processing, control loops, and data formatting.
  • Collaborate with PCB designers, software engineers, and mechanical engineers in an integrated product team.
  • Deliver products and support program goals in an R&D and rapid-prototyping environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 6 years of industry experience in engineering or R&D, including 5 years of FPGA development and 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Strong FPGA design and verification experience with SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, Xilinx software, and IP.
  • Experience with simulation and verification tools such as QuestaSim, VIP, and cocotb.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, including a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a worker granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with Zynq Ultrascale+ FPGAs, processors, and embedded software.
  • Experience developing system architectures and continuous integration development flows.
  • 10 or more years of experience specifying, developing, and validating complex electronic products.
  • Technical leadership and strong communication skills in rapidly changing environments.
