FPGA Engineer I (Aerospace): Developing and deploying FPGA circuits and systems for satellites, spacecraft, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other aerospace platforms with an accent on HDL-level design, verification, high-speed serial interfaces, and digital processing cores. Focus on managing multiple clocks and clock domains, testing and validating FPGA designs, and working with laboratory instruments and communications hardware.

Location: Austin, TX, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

  • Develop FPGA circuits and systems through design, verification, testing, and deployment.
  • Create HDL designs for high-speed serial interfaces, data streams, digital processing cores, multiple clocks and clock domains, and management interfaces.
  • Test, validate, and verify FPGA designs using laboratory equipment.
  • Contribute to leading-edge hardware for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • University experience designing, analyzing, and implementing FPGA systems at the HDL level.
  • Expertise in FPGA design and verification using Verilog or VHDL, HDL Coder, Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, and vector signal analyzers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work with U.S. Government-controlled space technology is required.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace design and qualification experience.
  • Worst-case, failure mode and criticality, and reliability analysis experience.
  • Board-level hardware design experience.
  • Familiarity with communications systems and digital signal processing.
