TL;DR
Mission Manager (Aurora Spaceplane): Translating customer objectives into executable flight plans and owning aerospace missions from initial scoping through flight campaigns and closeout with an accent on payload integration, flight planning, safety, certification, and customer coordination. Focus on assessing first-of-a-kind mission concepts, resolving technical and operational risks, and turning mission experience into repeatable spaceplane capabilities.

Location: Remote within the United States; Huntsville, USA preferred. Domestic and international travel to flight-test and operations locations is required.

What you will do

  • Own customer missions from initial scoping through mission establishment, flight campaigns, post-flight review, data delivery, and closeout.
  • Translate customer objectives into mission requirements, flight plans, schedules, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate engineering, certification, safety, logistics, commercial, payload, and flight operations specialists.
  • Assess payloads and mission concepts, support regulatory authorization, and prepare missions for Flight Readiness Review.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, clarifying technical capabilities, risks, costs, schedules, and responsibilities.
  • Improve mission processes, tools, templates, and playbooks while feeding lessons learned back into Aurora development.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in mission management, flight testing, spacecraft operations, or project management within aerospace, aviation, deep-tech, or a related sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong aerospace fundamentals and technical depth across engineering, certification, and flight operations.
  • Demonstrated judgment, ownership, and decision-making in safety-critical environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical topics accurately.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to access controlled Aurora program technology are required; security vetting and required export-control authorizations are conditions of appointment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace missions, flight-test campaigns, payload integration, or experimental aircraft programs.
  • Experience with aerospace research, defense, or government space-agency customers.
  • Familiarity with airworthiness, certification, mission assurance, safety analysis, or regulatory approval.
  • Experience at test ranges, airports, launch sites, or other field-operational environments.
  • Current or former U.S. Government security clearance and familiarity with HubSpot or project-management tools.
