Application Engineer (Solar Inverter and PCS)

What you will do

• Provide technical application support for solar inverters and power conversion systems in utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.
• Support Sales and Technical Sales with customer engagements, RFP/RFQ responses, proposals, project qualification, and technical documentation.
• Review project specifications, single-line diagrams, site conditions, interconnection requirements, system ratings, and compliance needs.
• Propose inverter and battery PCS configurations and support system integration with developers, EPCs, utilities, integrators, and energy storage partners.
• Coordinate technical reviews, customer meetings, design reviews, factory visits, product demonstrations, and handoffs to execution, manufacturing, commissioning, and service teams.
• Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, field support, customer feedback, and improvements to application tools and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of experience in applications engineering, renewable or BESS project engineering, systems engineering, field engineering, product/R&D engineering, or technical support.
• Experience with solar inverters, PCS, battery energy storage systems, power electronics, electrical equipment, or grid-connected energy systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, AC/DC power conversion, system ratings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, project specifications, product datasheets, and compliance documents.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings, site visits, factory visits, and industry events.

Nice to have

• Experience with utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, grid-tied inverter systems, or PCS platforms.
• Familiarity with UL, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, grid interconnection, inverter controls, communications protocols, SCADA integration, protection schemes, and grid support functions.
• Experience with RFP/RFQ responses, compliance matrices, project submittals, customer qualification, new product introduction, or product launches.
• Experience working with EPCs, developers, utilities, system integrators, or energy storage solution providers.
