Director, Distribution and Logistics

Location: Hybrid, combining onsite and remote work; responsibility for end-to-end U.S. vaccine distribution. Travel may be required.

Budget responsibility: approximately $15M–$25M for U.S. distribution and logistics.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end U.S. vaccine distribution across transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics providers.
• Develop distribution strategies, network capacity plans, and continuous improvement initiatives that support growth and customer demand.
• Manage logistics providers, carriers, contracts, procurement, vendor governance, and performance reviews.
• Oversee distribution quality, audits, investigations, recalls, CAPAs, licensing, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation.
• Own the distribution and logistics budget, forecasts, business cases, cost controls, and performance reporting.
• Partner with Commercial, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, IT, Customer Service, and external logistics providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or another regulated industry; vaccine or biologics experience is highly desirable.
• 5+ years of experience managing contracts with third-party logistics providers or suppliers.
• Leadership experience, including management of remote sites and staff, and experience operating in complex, rapidly changing environments.
• Deep knowledge of cold-chain distribution, GDP compliance, pharmaceutical logistics, import/export compliance, and U.S. state, district, and territory licensing requirements.
• Proficiency with SAP sales order management and materials management systems, logistics data interfaces, and third-party vendor transactions.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree.
• APICS or ISM certification.
• Experience with Six Sigma or Lean quality management methodologies.
• Familiarity with automation, robotics, driverless delivery, and other next-generation logistics technologies.
