Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem

Location: Remote - United States

Salary: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Build and evolve core platform services and capabilities that power the developer experience.
• Design platform features and tools that help external developers build apps on Reddit.
• Lead major technical initiatives from early exploration through design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Work across backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack components.
• Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences.
• Shape team strategy, mentor teammates, and promote thoughtful ownership.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience with platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery.
• Strong backend or platform engineering experience, with the ability to work across the stack when needed.
• Familiarity with C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving software engineering practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
