Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position.

What you will do

• Design and implement platform features that make Reddit easier, faster, and more powerful for external developers.
• Lead major technical initiatives from early exploration through design, delivery, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Build core platform services, SDKs, systems, and tools supporting future developer experiences.
• Work across backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack components.
• Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences.
• Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and help shape team strategy and platform direction.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience with platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.
• Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery.
• Experience with API design and platform engineering, with strong developer empathy.
• Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, GraphQL, React, Redis, relational or NoSQL databases, and the ability to work across the stack.
• Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity and software quality.
• Strong communication, mentoring, ownership, self-direction, and comfort working in a fully remote environment.
