Product Design Leader (Banking)

Location: Hybrid in Denver, New York, or San Francisco, United States; office attendance is expected approximately 2–3 days per week.

Salary: $178,000–$253,000 per year in San Francisco and New York; $147,000–$215,000 per year in Denver.

What you will do

• Lead an initial team of three product designers and hire to expand the team.
• Build shared rituals, planning processes, hiring pipelines, and design practices across Consumer Banking and Business Banking.
• Coach designers working on both an established Wallet product and a new SMB Banking product.
• Partner with product and engineering leads to define goals, success metrics, scopes, sequences, and milestones.
• Stay hands-on in high-stakes design decisions, especially on SMB Banking’s path to beta, while raising the quality bar for both products.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Data, Operations, and adjacent product teams to create a connected financial ecosystem.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience.
• 4+ years of people management experience, ideally managing senior designers or above.
• Experience as an established player-coach manager leading designers across products at different stages.
• High-quality portfolio and management experience in consumer or business financial products, such as fintech, banking, or financial platforms.
• Experience incorporating AI tools and practices into the work of a design team.
• Ability to work from and regularly attend an office in Denver, New York, or San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience partnering with Risk, Compliance, or Legal on regulated financial products.
• Experience with KYC, KYB, identity verification, money movement rails, or partner bank relationships.
