Senior NPI Mechanical Design Engineer (Turbomachinery)

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week

Salary: $112,704–$169,056 per year

What you will do

• Translate customer, business, and product requirements into actionable mechanical engineering solutions.
• Develop mechanical designs that meet performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability requirements.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of material, and product documentation.
• Support system integration, installation requirements, interface definition, and cross-functional coordination.
• Identify root causes, evaluate design tradeoffs, and mitigate technical risks throughout product development.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to continuous technical improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and developing complex mechanical systems and engineered products.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling using Ansys SpaceClaim and/or Creo.
• Experience with engineering drawings, BOM development using Windchill and Linked Data, and configuration management.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems with limited supervision and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with turbomachinery, rotating equipment, gas turbine systems, or related industrial equipment is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or reviewing mechanical installation and hydro-mechanical drawings.
• Experience working in Agile development environments and Scrum teams.
