Construction Inspector (Heavy Civil Infrastructure)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; field work and travel to project sites required

Salary: $85,000–$150,000 per year ($41–$72 per hour)

What you will do

• Inspect construction work for conformance with approved plans, specifications, permits, codes, and quality requirements.
• Document daily site activity, including labor, equipment, materials, quantities, weather, photographs, and progress.
• Verify delivered materials, coordinate field testing, and track deficiencies and corrective actions through closure.
• Identify nonconforming work, safety concerns, and design conflicts for prompt resolution.
• Measure pay quantities and support contractor progress payments, survey verification, layout checks, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, utility owners, agency staff, and third parties while supporting punch lists, startup, and closeout.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of construction inspection experience on heavy-civil infrastructure projects such as transit, transportation, utilities, water, or aviation.
• Experience inspecting civil and structural, mechanical and plumbing, or electrical construction systems.
• Knowledge of construction methods, applicable codes and standards, materials testing, and acceptance practices.
• Ability to prepare daily inspection reports, quantity records, and nonconformance documentation and interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to project sites, and proficiency with electronic field reporting platforms, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office 365.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline.
• OSHA 30 or discipline-specific certifications such as ICC, NICET, or advanced NACE certifications.
• Experience inspecting multiple disciplines, mentoring junior inspectors, or working with owner’s representative, program management, or QA/QC procedures.
• Experience with SharePoint-based inspection systems, Power BI, or Oracle Cloud Analytics.
