TL;DR
Facilities (Plant) Engineer Winter Co-Op (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of building systems and infrastructure with an accent on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utilities, and building automation systems. Focus on monitoring clean-room and utility systems, troubleshooting facility equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting compliance and capital improvement projects.

Location: Onsite in Beverly, Massachusetts, United States. Winter co-op cycle: January 4–February 26, 2027. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Salary: $20.42–$35.70 per hour. A $1,000 travel stipend is paid as a lump sum in the first paycheck.

What you will do

  • Support the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility systems and infrastructure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, machinery-space rounds, equipment rotation, and system monitoring using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Assist licensed technicians with troubleshooting and unexpected repairs involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Monitor building management, life safety, clean-room HVAC, boiler, chiller, water, electrical, natural gas, and liquid bulk gas systems.
  • Support site operations, grounds, security, janitorial needs, special events, hazards, and regulatory inspections.
  • Gain exposure to budgets, capital expenditure planning, maintenance contracts, staffing, and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree in Facilities Engineering.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience or familiarity with hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols, including LOTO and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to apply mechanical principles, collaborate with others, and learn in a real-world environment.
