Chief Engineer

What you will do

• Provide senior technical oversight for electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, fire/life safety, and BMS systems.
• Review change requests, validate risk mitigation and safety controls, and enforce SOP, MOP, EOP, and change management procedures.
• Lead technical portions of root cause analyses and coordinate maintenance, vendor work, projects, commissioning, and operational turnover.
• Respond to power failures, fire alarms, equipment failures, and other customer-impacting incidents while coordinating escalation and coverage.
• Mentor operations personnel, support hiring and onboarding, and develop technical training and site drill programs.
• Support audits, customer technical reviews, vendor management, resource planning, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related discipline preferred; 10+ years of equivalent data center operations experience may substitute.
• 5+ years of experience in data center operations or critical facilities management, including multi-site responsibility.
• Strong expertise in electrical systems such as UPS, ATS, and generators; mechanical systems such as chillers and TES; and BMS control systems.
• Knowledge of SOPs, EOPs, compliance auditing, safety and regulatory standards, commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Experience leading operations, managing risk, delivering technical training, and developing onboarding programs.
• Exceptional coaching, mentoring, communication, analytical, and situational-awareness skills, with the ability to lead without formal authority.
