Director of Compliance, Employee Benefits-Insurance Advisory Solutions

Location: Remote US

Salary: $185,000 per year; negotiable upon offer

What you will do

• Provide senior-level legal and regulatory compliance guidance on employee benefits and employer-sponsored health and welfare programs.
• Support compliance projects and daily workflow with the National Compliance Team across the country.
• Manage compliance activities for the West region and serve as a subject matter resource on California-specific requirements.
• Plan, draft, and deliver regulatory summaries, compliance alerts, statutory interpretations, presentations, and educational materials.
• Partner with client experience teams and advisors on sales initiatives, prospect meetings, trainings, and client education.
• Mentor junior compliance colleagues and support their project management, research, drafting, presentations, and professional development.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of relevant health and welfare employee benefits compliance experience.
• Graduate or advanced degree required; a Juris Doctor is strongly preferred.
• Expertise in federal and state employee benefits laws, regulations, statutes, and ordinances.
• Strong knowledge of California requirements, including SFHCSO, Cal-COBRA, disability and paid family leave, and state and local leave mandates.
• Ability to interpret complex legal, regulatory, and litigation matters and explain them clearly to non-legal professionals.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, client service, communication, and mentoring skills.
