Senior Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: North America, United States, or Canada

Salary: $160K–$247K in the United States, or CA$152K–CA$206K in Canada, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Design and build backend features from technical design through production rollout.
• Evolve backend architecture to support long-term scalability.
• Investigate and resolve scalability bottlenecks involving database access patterns and concurrency.
• Improve database migration safety, schema compatibility, upgrade reliability, and rollback strategies.
• Own backend issues reported by hirify.global operators and administrators.
• Document technical and operational tradeoffs, participate in code reviews and RFC discussions, and join on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Significant production experience with Go and deep knowledge of goroutines, channels, the sync package, and race-condition debugging.
• Experience designing and operating relational databases in production, including schema design, migrations, and transactions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional debugging and troubleshooting skills with a persistent, analytical approach.
• Ability to work in North America, the United States, or Canada.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure engineering experience.
• Experience building or operating distributed systems at meaningful scale.
• Curiosity about modern developer tooling.
