Assistant Control Room Operator (Waste Management)

Salary: $73,807–$101,445 per year

What you will do

• Monitor and operate station systems, including steam generation, condensate, feed water, circulating water, fuel handling, ash handling, electrical systems, fire protection, and air pollution control equipment.
• Read meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators to assess operating conditions and take corrective action under normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.
• Respond to alarms, identify abnormal or dangerous equipment conditions, and report malfunctions and operating trends.
• Support plant shutdown and startup procedures and help meet generation requirements safely and efficiently.
• Conduct surveillance tests, maintain operating logs and calculations, and monitor pumps, motors, valves, fans, dampers, grates, augers, and conveyors.
• Write permits, test confined spaces, and train other operators on facility systems and steam cycles.

Requirements

• Massachusetts Third Class Engineers License required under Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform continuous field monitoring and respond to normal and emergency operating conditions.
• Ability to interpret operating data and follow prescribed safety and environmental procedures.
• Technical training preferred.
