Staff Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Own end-to-end architecture across services, data flows, integrations, frontends, and failure modes.
• Design scalable service boundaries, API contracts, data ownership models, and migration paths.
• Lead modernization of PHP monoliths and replacement of Java services with TypeScript services under live traffic.
• Coordinate projects spanning one to two quarters, aligning engineers, stakeholders, dependencies, value, and cost.
• Set standards for security, testing, observability, documentation, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering, including coding-tool standards, guardrails, migration support, and team enablement.

Requirements

• Must be able to work legally in the United States; employment eligibility is validated through E-Verify.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership of multi-engineer, multi-quarter projects.
• Expert backend engineering in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Java, with experience across TypeScript, Java, PHP, Python, or C#.
• Production full-stack experience with React/Next.js, APIs and services, relational databases, and infrastructure.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems, including service extraction, strangler-fig migrations, or platform re-architecture under live traffic.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, distributed systems, REST, GraphQL, gRPC, SQS, AWS, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale frontend architecture, design systems, micro-frontends, performance budgets, or React Native/Expo.
• Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, payments, high-traffic consumer platforms, Snowflake, ETL, dimensional modeling, or computer vision.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, or agent frameworks to production.
• Interest in sports cards, gaming, or collectibles.
