Advanced Technician (Telecommunications)

Location: Lawton, Oklahoma, United States. Onsite field work with variable schedules, on-call service interruptions, overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in headend, HFC, fiber optic, and home terminal equipment.
• Repair local plant performance issues and customer-owned equipment using electronic test equipment.
• Interpret network design maps, verify as-built documentation, and report field findings.
• Splice and terminate coaxial and fiber optic cables, install active and passive devices, and test HFC and fiber optic plant performance.
• Survey customer-requested service locations, prepare extension maps, and perform underground facility locates.
• Maintain and restore aerial and underground plant, monitor signal leakage, repair power supplies, and train technical personnel as directed.

Requirements

• One-year college or technical school certificate, or three to four years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination.
• Successful completion of the Sparklight Technical Training Center Advanced Technician course within six months of accepting the position.
• Working knowledge of signal level meters, VOMs, leakage detection equipment, TDRs, OTDRs, and related test equipment.
• Knowledge of FCC, NEC, NESC, OSHA, DOT, and applicable local regulations.
• Valid driver's license in the state of employment.
• Availability for variable schedules, on-call work, overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
