IT System Analysts (Data Modernization)

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States. The role may be performed remotely for the full period of performance; a hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days is also described. U.S. citizenship is required. DHS security and background processing must be completed before work begins.

What you will do

• Analyze stakeholder, business, reporting, and technical requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and support report-automation and data-driven reporting environments.
• Develop data-processing, transformation, cleansing, validation, and automated data-collection workflows.
• Query and manage PostgreSQL databases, including data modeling, performance tuning, and database migration.
• Develop Tableau dashboards, reports, visualizations, and user-facing applications and interfaces.
• Integrate data from multiple systems, support testing and implementation, troubleshoot issues, and maintain technical documentation and SOPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum one year of systems analysis experience and experience with IT modernization, reporting, requirements, workflow analysis, and technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Java, SQL, Tableau, and React, Angular, or a similar modern web-interface technology.
• Hands-on PostgreSQL experience covering data modeling, SQL querying, performance tuning, and database migration.
• Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, technical writing, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• U.S. citizenship and completion of DHS security/background processing before work begins are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree, requirements development, technical specifications, impact analysis, and SDLC experience.
• ETL/ELT, data pipelines, REST/API integration, automated report-generation frameworks, or advanced Tableau development.
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript, automated testing, Git, CI/CD, data lineage, metadata management, and data-quality observability practices.
• Federal or DHS systems experience, CUI/PII or federal security experience, and Section 508/accessibility experience.
