Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Mexico City; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office for candidates within reasonable commuting distance

What you will do

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and scale cloud-based backend services.
• Build and deliver product features using microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
• Implement development practices supporting software integration, performance, security, maintainability, and automated testing.
• Support deployments, releases, critical maintenance, and occasional off-hours production activities.
• Identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, collaborating with peers and leadership to implement changes.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience designing and operating distributed, highly available, and high-throughput production systems.
• Professional experience with .NET/C#, Java, or Python and object-oriented and functional programming principles.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services, Terraform, CI/CD, GitOps, Docker, Kubernetes, relational and non-relational databases, and event streaming platforms.
• Knowledge of event-driven design, domain-driven design, secure coding, performance optimization, system resiliency, and automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Ability to build agentic AI features or frameworks and use AI coding assistants while maintaining quality, security, and maintainability.

Nice to have

• Google Professional Cloud Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience with generative or agentic AI on GCP, React, multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments, RAG pipelines, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or vector databases.
• Master’s degree or experience with TDD or BDD.
