What you will do

  • Design and build automated hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop test benches using target hardware, simulation, and custom fixtures.
  • Own firmware regression as a reliability gate and integrate hardware test suites into CI/CD.
  • Run fault-injection campaigns covering sensor faults, bus dropouts, power anomalies, and motor failures.
  • Develop test tooling for signal injection, CAN/UART/I2C/SPI traffic generation, telemetry capture, and automated log analysis.
  • Convert flight-test and field data into reproducible regression tests, including issues found on third-party platforms.
  • Support DFMEA, firmware root-cause investigations, corrective actions, reliability metrics, and manufacturing bring-up tests.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in embedded software testing, firmware verification, or embedded reliability engineering.
  • Strong Python skills and working knowledge of C/C++ for test automation, tooling, and firmware instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience testing bare-metal or RTOS firmware on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers such as STM32, including interrupts, timing, and clock-level behavior.
  • Experience building or operating hardware-in-the-loop test setups.
  • Practical experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, debuggers, and JTAG/SWD tools such as pyOCD, OpenOCD, or J-Link.
  • Knowledge of embedded buses and development tools including CAN/CAN-FD, UART, I2C, SPI, Git, CMake, and CI systems; schematic reading and soldering skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS or a comparable RTOS.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, fault-tree/RBD analysis, root-cause analysis, and reliability metrics.
  • Experience testing safety-critical or regulated systems such as aviation/UAS, automotive, or medical products, including standards such as DO-178, DO-160, or MIL-STD.
  • Battery management, motor control, or power-electronics testing experience.
