TL;DR
Propulsion AIT Engineer (Aerospace): Leading assembly, integration, and acceptance testing for Huracan, a cryogenic rocket engine, with an accent on thrust chamber assemblies, verification activities, and flight-relevant hardware readiness. Focus on developing assembly procedures, defining tooling and ground support equipment, investigating integration issues, and preparing hot-fire test campaigns.

Location: Bordeaux, France; onsite hands-on role

Company

The Exploration Company develops aerospace technologies for the future of space transportation.

What you will do

  • Lead assembly and acceptance testing of Huracan subcomponents, especially the thrust chamber assembly.
  • Integrate thrust chamber assemblies with engine structures, fluid components, valves, instrumentation, pumps, piping, and other propulsion subsystems.
  • Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, manufacturing documentation, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment.
  • Perform leak checks, pressure tests, functional checks, instrumentation checks, and other verification activities under approved safety procedures.
  • Prepare hot-fire test campaigns through hardware readiness reviews, equipment checks, procedure walk-downs, and test article closeout.
  • Record build and inspection data, investigate integration issues, implement corrective actions, and improve assembly processes and production readiness.

  • Experience assembling or integrating mechanical systems in a laboratory, workshop, production, or test environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of torque-controlled assembly, cleanliness, FOD prevention, leak testing, pressure testing, dimensional inspection, and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with CAD, PLM, ERP, manufacturing execution, or technical documentation systems.
  • Fluent written and spoken English required.
  • Ability to work rigorously in a fast-paced environment and communicate hardware status, risks, and constraints across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

  • Rocketry experience or relevant individual projects.
  • Experience with propulsion, pressure systems, fluidic assemblies, or complex hardware.
  • Exposure to machining, welding, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, inspections, and their impact on tolerances and performance.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast decision-making within an agile working environment.
  • Open and collaborative approach to risks, obstacles, and problem-solving.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of space propulsion hardware.
