TL;DR
Lead AIT Technician (Aerospace): Assembling, integrating, inspecting, and reworking spacecraft flight hardware with an accent on high-reliability mechanical and electrical assembly, workmanship standards, and technician development. Focus on leading hands-on spacecraft integration, resolving quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions, and improving controlled production documentation and manufacturability.

Location: Golden, Colorado, United States; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Perform hands-on assembly, integration, inspection, and rework of spacecraft flight hardware.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop AIT technicians through technical guidance, feedback, and coaching.
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical spacecraft hardware using engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, precision tools, and measurement equipment.
  • Inspect completed work and support peer inspections to ensure engineering, workmanship, and quality requirements are met.
  • Improve build procedures, work instructions, and production documentation based on production-floor experience.
  • Partner with AIT Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Design Engineering on issue resolution, manufacturability, integration processes, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and integrating spacecraft, aerospace hardware, or similarly complex high-reliability hardware.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technicians in an assembly or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical assembly skills and knowledge of high-reliability workmanship practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, 3D models, technical specifications, and detailed work instructions.
  • Experience with controlled manufacturing and engineering processes, configuration-controlled documentation, PDM/PLM systems, ECOs, and/or non-conformance processes.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ownership of quality, and willingness to remain hands-on with spacecraft hardware.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a Lead Technician, Senior Technician, or Technician Manager in the aerospace or space industry.
  • Spacecraft AIT experience from initial hardware integration through vehicle-level activities.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739, or equivalent standards.
  • RF hardware integration, Python, FRACAS, NCR, root cause analysis, corrective actions, or forklift/crane operation experience.
