Tool Maker (Manufacturing)

Location: Fairport, NY, United States; onsite production and tool-room work

Salary: $18.85–$35.10 per hour

What you will do

• Use lathes, mills, surface grinders, and other equipment to create tooling and fixtures for production.
• Generate and read blueprints and use measuring devices to make or modify tooling for new and existing job prints.
• Work with production and process engineering teams to design and develop tooling and fixtures.
• Set up and operate tool-room machines for grinding form tools, taps, drills, and holders.
• Sharpen tools, maintain tool holders, repair or requisition replacement parts, and keep adequate tooling stock.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards, use required personal protective equipment, and participate in team meetings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of experience building and maintaining fixtures.
• Ability to identify and solve problems using established options.
• Technical capacity, thoroughness, and ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Teamwork and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with moderate guidance.

Nice to have

• Tool and die maker apprenticeship or certification.
