Associate Project Accountant

Location: United States; hybrid workplace

Environmental and engineering services consulting firm providing environmental remediation, urban planning, coastal and marine engineering, sustainable energy, resource extraction, and construction management services across more than 20 offices in the United States and Canada.

What you will do

• Complete the billing cycle for assigned projects and prepare accurate, timely invoices according to client and contract requirements.
• Monitor project financial performance, including project setup, budgets, WIP, and billing needs, in collaboration with project managers.
• Communicate with clients about invoices, corrections, questions, and required documentation, tracking issues through resolution.
• Support collection efforts and help project managers address aged WIP.
• Participate in project review meetings and assist with month-end revenue reviews.
• Maintain organized project financial information and complete assigned administrative tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to billing accuracy.
• Ability to organize and track multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for working with project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
• Ability to resolve routine issues within established processes and seek guidance when appropriate.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and ability to learn ERP and project management systems.

Nice to have

• Internship or work experience in project accounting or billing.
• Experience in engineering, architecture, environmental consulting, or another professional services environment.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or another ERP system.
