Project Cost Accountant (Energy)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the Framingham, Massachusetts office, United States

Salary: $64,000–$92,500 annual base salary, plus benefits and potential performance incentives.

What you will do

• Provide accounting support to business units working on energy efficiency, renewable energy, operations and maintenance, and energy asset projects.
• Manage project initiation, maintenance, billing, invoicing, change orders, and closeout in Microsoft Dynamics D365.
• Analyze project costs, work in progress, budgets, committed costs, accruals, capitalized costs, forecasts, and estimated completion dates.
• Review project workbooks with Project Managers, Construction Directors, and business unit leadership, updating forecasts and project budgets.
• Prepare cost adjustment general ledger entries and coordinate period-end accounting adjustments.
• Maintain project accounting procedures, support timely book close, and assist with SEC filings and financial statement audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant accounting or finance experience, preferably in project accounting or financial management.
• Solid understanding and application of U.S. GAAP, financial principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, written communication, attention to detail, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in construction, energy efficiency projects, or similar industries.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics D365, Adaptive Insights, or similar financial planning systems.
• Experience managing cross-functional processes and communicating with stakeholders at different organizational levels.
