Data Science Intern (AI)

Location: Remote, Jacksonville, Florida, United States

Salary: $25.00 per hour; part-time, 20 hours per pay period, with an 11-month assignment.

What you will do

• Apply statistics and computer science to complex healthcare problems involving diagnostic analytics, image analysis, signal processing, pattern recognition, NLP, scheduling, risk analysis, and patient outcomes.
• Work with large clinical and non-clinical datasets from digital and external sources.
• Participate in data acquisition, transformation, data engineering, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, algorithm development, and deployment.
• Formulate analytical questions, perform hypothesis testing, optimize algorithms, and integrate stakeholder feedback.
• Apply concepts from other industries to healthcare quality improvement, clinical workflows, operational efficiency, and care delivery.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from, an undergraduate or graduate program in computer science, information technology, data science, physics, statistics, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Academic or project experience applying data science methods and familiarity with AI principles are required.
• Coursework or practical comfort with at least one of programming, machine learning, graph theory, algorithms, statistics, SQL, or linear algebra.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, initiative, innovation, and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Visa sponsorship or transfer is not available, including for F1 OPT STEM.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI, machine learning, NLP, or predictive analytics to healthcare, research, or operational datasets.
• Familiarity with healthcare data sources, EHR systems, clinical coding, and quality improvement metrics.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or related analytical tools.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data, clinical text, operational data, dashboards, and analytical presentations.
• Interest in healthcare innovation, gastroenterology, quality improvement, or clinical operations.
