Data Center Technician- 2nd Shift (Sunday- Wednesday)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; on-site. Second shift runs Sunday through Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to midnight. Rotating 24/7 on-call support and flexible scheduling are required.

What you will do

• Install, provision, test, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications services, network circuits, cabinets, equipment, cable runs, patch panels, and cross-connects.
• Work with copper and fiber optic media, including cable testing, fiber and copper fault diagnosis, terminations, attenuation, signal loss, and transmission characteristics.
• Support customer requests ranging from server reboots to complex telecommunications equipment troubleshooting, and update the order management system.
• Monitor security, environmental, electrical, cooling, and equipment systems; take readings and maintain operational reports.
• Manage capacity across meet-me rooms, MDFs, IDFs, patch panels, and cables while maintaining detailed cross-connect and power-circuit documentation.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair activities during equipment failures, escort customers and vendors through secure areas, and maintain data center security and cleanliness.

Requirements

• Two to three years of experience in similar critical facilities, plus a high school diploma.
• Strong practical knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling, inside plant disciplines, labeling standards, network layouts, and Layer 1 topologies.
• Experience with fiber optic and copper test equipment, data center network hardware, Cisco hardware, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Technical and mechanical background involving critical infrastructure such as generators, HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
• Knowledge of ANSI-942, ANSI-568, Visio, and Microsoft Office; strong analytical troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Columbus and support after-hours, weekend, rotating on-call, and 24/7 operational requirements.
