Data Center Technician 2

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; onsite data center work

Provides enterprise data center, cloud, and interconnection services through managed, high-availability facilities.

What you will do

• Provide proactive customer support by phone, email, face-to-face, and case management systems.
• Complete customer orders, hardware installations, testing, ticket resolution, and remote hands requests.
• Monitor business-critical infrastructure and alarms, troubleshoot issues, and escalate according to internal procedures.
• Install and manage Ethernet, SONET, dark fiber, copper, coaxial, Cat5/6, and other network cabling.
• Conduct physical security walkthroughs, manage visitor sign-in procedures, and escort customers and vendors.
• Maintain inventory, facility cleanliness, tour readiness, compliance records, timesheets, and vendor maintenance support.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; a related college degree is preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience or demonstrated ability to perform the listed responsibilities.
• Data center, NOC, SOC, or IOC experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Ability to install and neatly manage copper, coaxial, Cat5/6, fiber, and network connectors.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with DS1, DS3, Ethernet, and fiber circuits.
• Basic knowledge of switches, firewalls, and managed storage.
• Experience replacing hard drives, memory, and motherboards.
