Data Center Technician - Evening (Data Center Operations)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; onsite in a 24/7/365 data center

What you will do

• Monitor critical facilities systems and respond to alarms, notifications, and escalations.
• Provide physical and remote support to colocation customers, including fiber and copper cross-connects and equipment troubleshooting.
• Handle customer support tickets, access requests, Remote Hand troubleshooting, orders, delivery logistics, and general site support.
• Conduct hourly facility walkthroughs, collect readings from electrical and mechanical equipment, and monitor site conditions.
• Perform rack-and-stack work, equipment handling, repairs, interconnection circuit orders, and facility preparations for customer environments.
• Support physical security, planned outages, maintenance windows, package handling, visitor access, and operational recordkeeping.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• At least two years of data center experience or closely related technical experience required.
• At least two years of customer service experience required.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, multitasking, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work cross-functionally.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite; knowledge of data center cooling and power infrastructure is beneficial.
