Data Center Technician- 3rd Shift (Wednesday- Saturday)

Location: Columbus, OH, United States; on-site. Wednesday–Saturday, 10:00 PM–8:00 AM, with rotating 24/7 on-call support and flexible scheduling.

What you will do

• Install, provision, test, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications services, equipment, cabinets, cable runs, patch panels, and cross-connects.
• Work with copper and fiber optic media, including cable lacing, testing, splicing-related infrastructure, attenuation, signal loss, breaks, and termination issues.
• Support customer remote-hands requests, including server reboots and complex telecommunications equipment troubleshooting, while updating the order management system.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair activities during equipment failures and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
• Monitor security, environmental, electrical, cooling, and equipment systems; maintain capacity records and detailed documentation for cross-connects and power circuits.
• Maintain data center cleanliness and security procedures, including access requests and escorting vendors and customers through secure areas.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in similar critical facilities and a high school diploma.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling, Inside Plant disciplines, telecommunications standards, and cable testing equipment.
• Knowledge of network layouts, Cisco hardware, Layer 1 topologies, Ethernet, Fiber Channel, ANSI-942, ANSI-568, and relevant ISO standards.
• Strong technical and mechanical background, including exposure to generators, HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
• Knowledge of Visio and Microsoft Office, analytical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Ability to work on-site during overnight shifts, weekends, after-hours periods, and rotating 24/7 on-call coverage.
