CNC Lathe Machinist (3x12 Friday – Sunday 5:30pm – 6:00am)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Onsite, full-time schedule: Friday–Sunday, 5:30pm–6:00am.

What you will do

• Semi-finish and finish large electrical generator rotor shafts made from alloy steel forgings weighing up to 275 tons.
• Set up and align rotor forgings with steady rests on large-scale CNC horizontal lathes.
• Interpret engineering drawings and quality control documents to produce accurate, compliant parts.
• Inspect work during machining using precision measuring devices and gauges.
• Support continuous improvement through 5S and the Lean Production System.
• Maintain process records, collaborate with technical support, crane operators, and mentor apprenticeship-program employees.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least four years of CNC lathe operations experience, preferably with steady rest supports; less experience may be accepted with a two-year accredited CNC machinist training degree.
• Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, or Mazak CNC controls.
• At least two years of experience using basic measuring instruments and gauges.
• Ability to interpret G and M codes, complex engineering drawings, and CNC operating principles.
• Ability to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs and pass required hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests; willingness to obtain fork truck and crane licenses and an ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate at Silver level or higher.
