Senior Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at the Broomfield, Colorado headquarters; applicants must be a U.S. Person and satisfy U.S. employment eligibility requirements. Relocation support is available.

Salary: $150,056–$171,360 per year

What you will do

• Design precision mechanical hardware for spacecraft product lines and optical payloads, including structures, mechanisms, sensors, actuators, mounts, benches, flexures, and bonded interfaces.
• Own mechanical performance error budgets by allocating tolerances, running stack-ups, and driving allocations to closure.
• Design for athermalization and dimensional stability through material selection, mount schemes, and analysis of creep, hysteresis, and gravity-release behavior.
• Release drawings with GD&T and own parts through fabrication, vendor interaction, inspection, and manufacturability reviews.
• Support optical alignment, metrology, integration, environmental testing, and anomaly root-cause investigations hands-on.
• Collaborate with optical design, systems, thermal, analysis, and AI&T teams to resolve mechanical and system-level tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Experience owning tolerance stack-ups or mechanical error budgets and driving them to closure.
• Experience with or familiarity with structural and thermal analysis, including appropriate modeling scope and methods.
• Experience with interferometric testing and optical metrology, including phase-shifting interferometry and CGH alignment.
• Experience releasing manufacturing drawings with GD&T and working directly with machinists and vendors.
• Opto-mechanical experience with flight or fielded hardware that maintains optical performance through thermal and dynamic environments.
• U.S. Person status and authorization to work in the United States are required.
