Materials Analyst, Microscopy (XSEM) (SEM and materials science): Performing SEM imaging, cross-section sample preparation, and micro cleaving for advanced materials and semiconductor analysis with an accent on site-specific results, production quality, and client turnaround commitments. Focus on managing multiple samples, optimizing laboratory workflows, and solving technical problems in a hands-on microscopy environment.
Location: Milpitas, California, USA; onsite evening shift, Wednesday through Saturday, 6pm to 5am
Salary: USD 80,000–90,000 per year

What you will do
- Perform SEM imaging and appropriate sample preparation to produce high-quality client data.
- Prepare cross-sections and perform micro cleaving for advanced materials and semiconductor analysis.
- Manage multiple client samples while meeting quality, security, and turnaround requirements.
- Collaborate with the XSEM Engineering group and internal analytical teams to understand analysis requirements and follow standardized procedures.
- Optimize workflows and improve efficiency and consistency in a production-focused laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Hands-on SEM experience, or strong academic or early-industry experience demonstrating independent sample preparation capability.
- Working knowledge of electron microscopy principles, especially SEM.
- Understanding of semiconductor device physics and failure analysis concepts.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven laboratory.
- Ability to work onsite in Milpitas, California, on the Wednesday–Saturday, 6pm–5am schedule.

- Advanced SEM imaging or sample preparation experience.
- Experience in a high-throughput or production laboratory.
