Senior Manager - Firmware Engineering (Storage Firmware)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite role

Annual base salary: $91,000–$247,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Lead and manage the firmware engineering team responsible for the FlashTec product line.
• Direct end-to-end firmware development across architecture, design, implementation, integration, validation, and release.
• Set priorities, schedules, and resource plans to meet product milestones.
• Collaborate with hardware, ASIC, validation, systems, product management, and customer engineering teams.
• Improve agile firmware development practices and manage risks, debugging, and mitigation strategies.
• Mentor engineering managers and individual contributors while contributing to storage firmware technology roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years managing firmware or software engineering teams.
• Strong background in embedded firmware or low-level software development.
• Hands-on knowledge of PCIe and NVMe technologies and experience with SSD firmware projects.
• Experience with agile firmware or software development methodologies.
• Strong leadership, communication, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise storage products or data center technologies.
• Knowledge of performance optimization, reliability features, firmware validation, storage protocols, NAND technologies, and embedded systems architecture.
• Experience scaling engineering teams and leading geographically distributed teams.
