What you will do
- Lead, mentor, and grow software engineers working on host-side storage software in partnership with SSD engineering teams and business planners.
- Own headcount planning, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
- Define the team strategy and roadmap, translating group direction into charter-driven software initiatives.
- Structure pathfinding work into focused sub-teams covering firmware proofs of concept, host-stack implementation, and validation.
- Manage technical priorities, engineering capacity, hardware and platform intercept windows, and delivery risks across concurrent initiatives.
- Represent the team in program planning and coordinate with engineering groups, NAND experts, external customers, partners, and open-source communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing a software team or leading with formal management responsibility.
- Experience owning team strategy, setting priorities, and making trade-off decisions across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Experience managing Agile or Kanban delivery and reporting for a software team.
- Experience with hiring, requisitions, goal-setting, performance reviews, and career development.
Nice to have
- Background in systems and storage software, including NVMe, SSD firmware and host-software interaction, or Linux storage stacks.
- Familiarity with SPDK or comparable user-space storage frameworks.
- Experience with FTL design, RAID and write shaping, NAND transitions, power-fail handling, or data recovery.
- Experience with open-source upstreaming, maintainer engagement, distributed engineering teams, or external customer and partner collaboration.
- Exposure to AI-inference storage concepts, TCO-based value framing, or data-center SSD and enterprise storage companies.
