Histology Associate (Precision Medicine)

What you will do

• Perform routine histology laboratory assistant workflows safely and diligently.
• Track completed work in a custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Collaborate with the Histology team to meet daily cutting and staining deadlines.
• Communicate workflow needs with pathologists, histology staff, and associated teams.
• Report instrumentation, sample, and laboratory issues promptly and seek guidance when problems arise.
• Learn to orient tissue blocks, operate histology equipment, cut frozen sections, stain samples, and maintain laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Experience as a Histology Assistant at Tempus is preferred.
• An Associate’s degree is preferred, or a minimum of 60 semester hours including at least 12 hours in Biology and Chemistry.
• Knowledge of CAP regulations and experience with laboratory SOPs and protocols are preferred.
• Comfort with laboratory safety procedures and training.
• Problem-solving, communication, organization, and willingness to learn.
• Responsibilities include exposure to Xylene; additional PPE may be needed for individuals with respiratory conditions.
