TL;DR
Avionics Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, and validating spacecraft avionics systems for data handling, communications, and control with an accent on system architecture, interface management, and requirements traceability. Focus on verification and validation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, spacecraft-level trade-offs, and supporting qualification and flight certification.
Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance is provided, including visa sponsorship where applicable.

What you will do
- Define avionics system architectures covering electronics, data handling, communications, computing platforms, sensors, and communication hardware.
- Manage data flows, system-level requirements, and interfaces between avionics and spacecraft subsystems such as power, propulsion, GNC, and payload.
- Develop onboard and ground communication and data handling concepts, including telemetry, telecommand, data acquisition, processing, storage, and transmission.
- Contribute to spacecraft-level trade-offs involving performance, reliability, mass, power, and cost.
- Define verification and validation strategies and participate in simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and system-level testing.
- Support integration campaigns, launch preparation, mission operations, design reviews, and technical coordination with suppliers, partners, customers, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- 3+ years of experience in avionics systems, electronics, embedded systems, or spacecraft engineering.
- Strong understanding of electronic and embedded system architectures, communication and data handling principles, system integration, and interface management.
- Experience with requirements engineering, system lifecycle development, verification and validation methods, testing, and simulation.
- Knowledge of spacecraft avionics or aerospace systems and familiarity with space communication and data standards such as CCSDS.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary, international engineering environments and present technical designs and verification evidence to external authorities including NASA and ESA.

- Experience with HIL testing, simulation environments, or digital engineering tools.
- Exposure to safety-critical or mission-critical system development.
- Experience working with international or multi-stakeholder engineering teams.
