Network Analyst I, NMC (Enterprise Networking and Security): Supporting and optimizing UBC’s large campus and enterprise network across routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, DNS/DHCP, monitoring, and network management systems with an accent on operational stability, security, and performance. Focus on troubleshooting complex incidents through packet captures and logs, automating network operations with scripts, and maintaining reliable services during on-call and off-hours activities.
Location: Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Salary: $7,158.42–$10,292.25 CAD monthly

What you will do
- Operate, monitor, implement, and support ’s enterprise campus network, including routing, switching, network security, DNS/DHCP, and network management systems.
- Resolve service requests, incidents, and operational problems involving switching, routing, firewall policies, security devices, and support systems.
- Analyze statistics, packet captures, logs, and network performance data to identify root causes and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, network components, and related security technologies.
- Create and maintain scripts and programs to automate network operations, and contribute to standards, documentation, disaster recovery, and test plans.
- Provide rotational after-hours on-call support and participate in emergency maintenance and project activities.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and at least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN, large campus networks, network operations, network security, and network management environments.
- Knowledge of routing and switching technologies including OSPF, BGP, MPLS, HSRP, IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, and multicast.
- Knowledge of firewall technologies, VPNs, AAA, ACLs, device hardening, IDS/IPS, and network security best practices.
- Experience with network monitoring and analysis, DNS, DHCP, Windows, macOS, UNIX, and packet capture analysis.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize multiple work streams, and participate in after-hours support.
Nice to have
- CCNA, Cisco certification, or another advanced certification in routing, switching, or network security.
- Experience with Python, Perl, or shell scripting, software-defined networking, data centre networks, and service-provider MPLS.
