Data Software Engineer (Java/Scala)

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java- and Scala-based backend applications for regulatory reporting workflows.
• Translate technical and business requirements into reliable, scalable software solutions.
• Build and support ETL and data-processing workflows for large volumes of trading and market data.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term fixes across distributed data platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using cloud and big data technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience with strong Scala or Java programming skills.
• Experience with backend services, data-intensive applications, or ETL and data-processing solutions.
• Experience with SQL and Linux/Unix environments, including scripting and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale data processing technologies and cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Amazon EMR, Hadoop, or other big data technologies.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
• Background in financial markets, regulatory reporting, or trading systems.
