Applied AI Research Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Hybrid policy requires staff to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time; occasional travel to customer sites is required.

Annual salary: $300,000–$400,000 USD.

What you will do

• Embed with product teams and become a technical expert on new AI products and capabilities.
• Lead early model testing, field-readiness assessments, and technical enablement throughout product launches.
• Build demos, evaluations, prototypes, playbooks, training sessions, and reference architectures.
• Work hands-on with strategic customers to solve novel technical challenges and package solutions for broader teams.
• Synthesize customer insights, adoption patterns, blockers, and capability gaps for Product, Engineering, and Research roadmaps.
• Partner with Sales and Applied AI teams on high-value accounts and customer workshops.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Product Manager, Forward Deployed Engineer, AI startup founder, or in a similar technical role.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language and strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Meaningful experience building with large language models, including LLM-powered products, agents, workflows, or production integrations.
• Experience designing evaluations, building prototypes, or creating technical enablement for complex products.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex topics to diverse internal and external stakeholders, including executives.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
