Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, with travel to various job sites across New Mexico of up to 25%. The role combines field and office work and requires working around high-pressure gas facilities, equipment, and pipelines.
Salary: Engineer I: $73,440–$91,800; Engineer II: $88,640–$110,800; Engineer III: $104,960–$131,200. Placement depends on skills, experience, and education.

What you will do
- Design, install, maintain, and calibrate natural gas measurement and control equipment, including flow meters, pressure and temperature instruments, regulators, actuated valves, automation, SCADA, odorization equipment, and gas chromatographs.
- Analyze measurement data to support billing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot measurement issues and lead system upgrades across distribution and transmission facilities.
- Provide engineering expertise and technical support for intermediate projects and operational areas.
- Supervise or provide technical direction to contractors and company personnel as required.
- Prepare project budgets, forecasts, invoice approvals, financial reports, proposals, status updates, and recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, Metallurgy/Materials Science, Electrical, or Construction Engineering.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Engineer I: no experience required; a bachelor’s degree must be obtained within three months of hire, with unofficial transcripts submitted.
- Engineer II: two years of engineering experience, or one year with a master’s degree; Fundamentals of Engineering certification required.
- Engineer III: five years of engineering experience, or three years with a master’s degree; Professional Engineer certification required.
- Ability to work in field conditions, use personal protective equipment, respond during working and non-working hours, and participate in on-call coverage up to two weeks per year.
Nice to have
- Experience sizing natural gas meters, odorizers, and regulators.
- Experience with SCADA and specifying gas chromatographs.
- Construction or utility experience in the natural gas industry.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification for Engineer I applicants.
