Backend Engineer (Python/ML)

Location: Hybrid in Berlin, Germany or Stockholm, Sweden

What you will do

• Build forecasts supporting energy trading operations.
• Turn machine learning models into reliable, production-ready backend systems.
• Support retail trading and flex trading domains.
• Work hands-on with time series data and forecasting.
• Collaborate with traders who use the systems' outputs in daily decisions.

Requirements

• Strong Python skills and experience building backend systems in ML-heavy production environments.
• Hands-on experience with time series data and forecasting.
• Ability to move ML models from development into reliable production systems.
• Proactive, entrepreneurial approach with end-to-end ownership in a small, high-impact team.
• Clear communication with technical colleagues and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Background in energy, utilities, or financial markets.
• Experience with .NET.
• Interest in developing with AI-enabled tools and approaches.
