Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Germany, hybrid; at least 4 days per month on-site in the Berlin office. Remote work from anywhere in the EU is available for up to 10 consecutive days at a time and up to 60 days per year as a workation benefit.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable backend services for the brokerage API platform.
• Develop systems covering instruments and market data, orders and trades, portfolios and positions, taxes, clearing and settlements, corporate actions, and reporting.
• Deliver secure and resilient customer and institutional order workflows, including batch trading, transfers, transaction reporting, and market abuse screening.
• Own technical decisions and architectural improvements across the core platform and systems.
• Work end to end in a cross-functional team with internal and external partners.
• Review code and support engineering quality, maintainability, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Experience designing, building, and operating reliable, scalable backend systems.
• Strong skills in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, Java, Ruby, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable architecture and reliable REST APIs.
• Experience with cloud environments and architectural patterns, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with document-based or relational databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Ability to write well-structured, maintainable, well-tested code and provide mentorship through code reviews.
