Associate Director – US Payroll and Executive Payroll

What you will do

• Manage accurate, timely end-to-end US and executive payroll processing, including deductions, benefits, payments, payslips, documentation, and incident management.
• Interpret pay policies covering taxes, leave, disability, workers’ compensation, union contracts, withholding exemptions, and other payroll-related accounts.
• Coordinate third-party payroll system implementations, upgrades, HRIS integrations, global payroll transformation projects, and process standardization.
• Manage internal stakeholders and external payroll vendors, including service-level agreements, compliance benchmarks, and issue resolution escalations.
• Monitor payroll KPIs, dashboards, costs, cycle times, accuracy, employee experience, and compliance performance.
• Identify operational improvements, analyze payroll data, forecast labor costs, and strengthen controls against compliance and fraud risks.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience managing end-to-end payroll operations and applying global standard operating procedures while maintaining local compliance.
• Knowledge of federal, state, regional, and local payroll laws, taxation, labor regulations, audits, internal controls, and risk management.
• Experience with cloud-based payroll and HRIS solutions such as SAP, Workday, ADP, or EY platforms.
• Ability to manage payroll transformation projects using agile project management and Lean Six Sigma process improvement methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders, including training teams on new processes and technologies.
• Experience with payroll data security and privacy standards, including GDPR, SOC 1, and ISO 27001, plus financial and budget management skills.
