Accounts and Payroll Manager (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end UK payroll process and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Maintain payroll controls, including approvals, reconciliations, variance reviews, and documentation.
• Manage Accounts Payable, including high-volume invoice and payment processing.
• Maintain accounting records in Xero and complete payroll, AP, and control-account reconciliations during the monthly close.
• Prepare UK VAT returns and maintain supporting records and reconciliations.
• Improve and automate inefficient finance processes while building scalable controls for company growth.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience managing UK payroll for a small or medium-sized business, including during significant headcount growth.
• Strong experience owning or managing an Accounts Payable function and processing high volumes of invoices and payments.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero and experience preparing UK VAT returns.
• Strong reconciliation, accounting control, accuracy, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to take ownership, work independently in a fast-moving environment, and collaborate across Finance, People, and the wider business.
• English fluency at C1 level or above is required.

• Experience with Deel.
• Experience improving or automating payroll or Accounts Payable processes.
