Sr. Construction Liability Claim Representative

Location: Diamond Bar, California, United States

Annual base salary: $85,600–$141,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve severe specialty liability bodily injury and property damage claims.
• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, policy information, exclusions, and supporting records to determine claim exposure.
• Coordinate internal and external resources, including counsel, subrogation, risk control, medical consultants, and fraud or fire investigators.
• Establish reserves, maintain accurate claim files, monitor claim activity, and control allocated and unallocated loss adjustment expenses.
• Develop litigation plans, select and direct counsel, and manage claims through discovery, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements, apply alternative resolution methods, participate in roundtables, and share technical expertise and resolution techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of business experience, or a high school diploma/GED and at least 2 years of liability or comparable litigation claim handling experience.
• Advanced knowledge of claim handling and litigation, including coverage, liability, damages analysis, commercial lines products, policy language, ISO forms, and relevant law.
• Strong negotiation, customer service, written communication, verbal communication, analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Experience evaluating severe and complex claims and making independent decisions within delegated authority.
• Insurance license(s) may be required; required licenses generally must be obtained within three months of starting.
• Intermediate knowledge of investigation principles, value determination, settlement techniques, medical knowledge, and insurance contracts.
